What the Digital Content Coordinator does
The Digital Content Coordinator position is key in assisting AGU to promote discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity, by being tactical in focus.
The purpose of the Digital Content Coordinator position is to maintain the website, ensure the information is up-to-date, and accessible. The incumbent in this role will support the digital innovation team with the content, structure, and training of staff in using the content management system, Sitecore; review and implement changes to the website SEO and metadata so they are optimized for search engines.
Reporting to the Director, Digital Operations, the Digital Content Coordinator will work closely with the Core team and other departments to coordinate the editing and publishing of the website content in a cohesive look and feel.
* Maintains the overall visual of the website working with graphic designers to manipulate and design images that work with Sitecore modules.
* Trains staff in using content management system.
* Serves as liaison with other departments to incorporate their vision in the layout of their web pages.
* Maintains and updates SEO and metadata across all web pages to ensure they are optimized for search engines.
* Creates meeting and webinar events.
* Builds and archives conference web sites annually.
* Provides user acceptance testing and QA support for the rollout of new products.
* Approves and publishes content produced by content authors.
* Monitors and maintains data accuracy for synced data in Sitecore.
* Supports special ad hoc projects as required.
* Other duties as assigned.
What the Digital Content Coordinator brings to the team
* Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience in a web administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with maintaining, building components, and layouts in a content management system, preferably Sitecore.
* Experience or specialized knowledge of the non-profit field is a plus.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to translate technical information to non-technical terms, both verbally and in written format.
* Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance competing priorities.
* Strong organization skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
* Must be comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
* Flexible and able to work with routinely shifting priorities.
* Ability to patiently deal with customers, both internal and external.
* Demonstrated strong customer service orientation, problem management, user requirements analysis and process, and diagnostic questioning techniques.
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of HTML, XHTML, CSS, and previous experience using image editing software (i.e. photoshop).
* Strong knowledge of search engine strategies, such as search engine optimization techniques and web analytic tools is required.
* Knowledge of Agile software development practices.
* Knowledge of automated testing software.
