Short Order Prep Cook - Academic Year (Food Services)
Saint Anselm College, a Catholic, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a part-time, academic-year (32 weeks), Short Order / Prep Cook to perform variety of routine and skilled tasks in food preparation, cooking and presentation for the Coffee Shop/Pub.
The Short Order/ Prep Cook will set up and stock work areas with all necessary food, supplies and equipment. Assemble, prepare, cut and pre-portion various food items to be cooked later. Prepare fruits, vegetables, cooked meats, and cheeses for service or use in sandwiches. Make sandwiches, mix salads and salad dressings. Perform a variety of basic and skilled cooking tasks, under minimal supervision, including boiling, steaming, frying, baking, broiling, grilling, and deep frying, using a variety of specialized equipment. Read orders, plate foods, coordinate assembly of needed food items and assemble completed orders. Clean equipment and work areas, following established health and safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge and skills in quantity food handling, preparation and cooking.
- Familiarity with high volume kitchen operations.
- Ability to deal with customers courteously and efficiently.
- Physical ability to do heavy lifting and all other primary job duties.
Required Experience
High School (or equivalent) plus two years of relevant commercial or institutional kitchen experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
