Vice President of People and Culture (Project Management)



Job Summary:

Spherion has partnered with Horizon Goodwill Industries (HGI) in the search for their Vice President of HR, People and Culture. As the Vice President of People and Culture, you will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership team, leading the development, implementation, and management of effective human resource strategies to advance an organizational culture built on caring, inclusivity, growth, and accountability. You will collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to attract, motivate, develop, and retain an outstanding and diverse workforce to support organizational growth and advance the economic sustainability of the communities we serve. 

Annual Salary: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00

Essential Functions:

• Leads the strategy, operations and administration of all human resource functions including employment, diversity & inclusion, recruitment & talent management, employee relations, training and development, resource coordination, and compliance of policies, programs and systems that support the strategic plan and business goals across all organizational operating units.
• In partnership with the Director of Business Services supports Source America/Ability One projects for the organization including recruitment, benefits management, and health documentation required for these projects.
• Oversees the development and implementation of programs and services that promote diversity, inclusion, and equity within the organization; measure and monitor diversity and equity, develop new programs and practices that effectively increase diversity, inclusion and equity.
• Identifies solutions, best practices and provides counsel and support to senior management on matters of policy development and strategic implementation of human resource programs.
• Works collaboratively across the organization's structure to build and foster a positive culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top results for the organization.
• Advises and counsels senior management on issues related to wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services as a part of the cross functional leadership team.
• Works collaboratively with Compliance Officer to maintain agency's compliance and reporting efforts relative to EEO, fair employment practices and other legal requirements as a part of the cross functional leadership team.
• Educates all levels of management on employee relations, performance management, professional development, effective team building and risk mitigation areas.
• Responds to and champions employee issues in the context of organizational strategy; translate business objectives into appropriate human resource actions and initiatives.
• Identifies and implements best practices to build employee commitment, foster a culture of employee recognition and appreciation.
• Provides leadership and support to senior leaders on matters of people/performance management and policy application.
• Works effectively to ensure teamwork and a unified effort across all human resource functions and departments.
• Assures organization is compliant with all employment laws and practices.
• Creates and implements internal employee wellness initiatives using comprehensive approach.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in HR, Human Services, Business or related field is preferred. SHRM Certification or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience leading a person-centered department preferably with a midsize or larger organization. (200+ employees)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all human resources disciplines, including employment, diversity & inclusion, recruitment & talent management, employee relations, training & development, and compliance.
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulatory compliance requirements as well as federal EEO, ADA, AAP and FMLA guidelines and regulations.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter with a proven record of handling multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Must have a proven record of creating, implementing and leading successful teams in a fast-paced growing organization.
  • Previous experience developing and managing departmental budget(s) required
