Mental Health Therapist - 0645 (Personal Services)
What You Bring to The Table (requirements):
Education:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field; and
Mental Health Therapist I: One (1) year of internship experience providing mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
Mental Health Therapist II: Two (2) years of post-masters experience providing professional mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Drivers License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.
Mental Health Therapist I: Possession of a valid registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), to be maintained throughout employment. Some programs may consider candidates who are able to obtain registered status within the first six (6) months after hire.
Mental Health Therapist II: Possession of valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), to be maintained throughout employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
The principles and practices that are associated with psychotherapy, social work, and counseling.Psychosocial assessments and individual/family/group behavioral treatment methods for target population of program.Risk assessment, including danger to self or others, and effective community-based interventions for those with high risk. Cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.Program target population (Example: intellectually disabled, homeless, teens or young adults, seriously emotionally disturbed).Program modality (example: school-based, residential, mobile/community-based, wraparound, etc.).
Ability to:
Communicate verbally, in writing, and with active listening skills.Maintain participant confidentiality.BecomeCertified to conduct a CANS/ANSA assessment within 90 days of employment if CANS/ANSA is utilized by program.Apply a strength-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and flexible approach to supervision, participant, and community service, to support participant recovery, health, and wellness.Assess,triage, and organize work.UseMicrosoft Office Suite and/or competence with electronic clinical documentation systems.
Access dependable transportation, personal car insurance meeting minimum liability coverage required if position requires driving for work or transporting participants.
(*)For LPCC/PCCIs, the county-specific eligibility must be verified by the hiring manager including certification by the BBS to work with families, as required.
