Technician II, Facilities (Finance)
As a Building Repair and Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, repairs, and new smaller projects in a portfolio of over 120 buildings throughout the City of Fort Collins. Collaborating with an excellent team you may find yourself helping a team member, working individually, or overseeing a vendor to accomplish specialty project work within the work orders that are assigned to you. Your knowledge of but not limited to plumbing, painting, carpentry, drywall, roofing, carpeting, flooring, furniture installation and vendor management will help you with your daily schedule. You will have the daily opportunity to work with many different people in many different work environments. Working in office buildings, recreational facilities, swimming pools, ice rinks as well as the Police Department and Fire departments; your ability to work with the values and needs of the internal customers of the City and external customers will be second nature
Note: This position is required to maintain a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification; employment is contingent upon the successful completion of the CJIS Security Awareness training and certifying assessment and initiation of the fingerprinting/ background check within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Installs, maintains, and/or repairs sinks, drains, water closets, urinals, electronic flush valves, water and waste lines, and sump pumps.Performs carpentry activities such as minor demolitions in occupied buildings, building and or installation, repairing framing, doors, jambs, shelving, partitions, cabinets, counters, and counter tops, and repairing furniture.Prepares and paints various types of surfaces; uses latex, oil base, enamels, urethane, alkaline, and weatherproof paints, stains, and varnishes.Performs preventative roof maintenance including inspection, maintenance, and repair of asphalt shingle, built up, wood shake, tile, foam, gutters, and downspouts.Installs, maintains, and repairs wall and floor ceramic tiles, VCT tiles, cove base, acoustical ceiling tiles and grids, terrazzo, carpet tiles, and wood floors.Installs and repairs texture, sheet rock, and vinyl sheet rock.Maintains, repairs, or replaces concrete floors, walls, ceilings, driveways, and sidewalks.Maintains, repairs, or replaces asphalt.Inspects, maintains, and repairs of fire systems, general equipment, tools, garage doors and openers, automatic doors and ADA equipment.Purchases and or orders supplies, materials, parts equipment necessary to do job.May direct, oversee, and train hourly employees and is responsible for the supervision of vendors and vendor employees within given projects.Inspects various equipment for potential problems and safety hazards.Utilizes mobile and computer applications to support facilities maintenance.Proficient in entering customer work orders and work requests.Identifies and understands maintenance issues through customer and technician communication.May develop estimates of labor hours and material cost for minor remodels or small projects.
