MIS Manager (Engineering)



The Manager, MIS (Management Information Systems) will manage the technical infrastructure and lead the technical team responsible for developing and maintaining HealthStream's internal application and network technology. This position will have overall responsibility for HealthStream's internal, multi-site network, e-mail applications, financial system applications, backup systems, and other internal support applications. This position will report directly to the Director Site Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES – (The below listed duties are not all inclusive. This position must also perform other duties as assigned.):

  • Manage and lead the day-to-day activities of HealthStream's 12-14 member MIS department.
  • Maintain server, desktop and laptop backups & data archival.
  • Work directly with HealthStream's development teams to create and maintain virtual and physical software development, test and QA environments using WMWare / Lab Manager.
  • Develop and manage scheduled server, network, and user equipment replacements.
  • Set up and maintenance of users and permissions via active directory.
  • Maintenance of Voice Telecommunications Network and Switch.
  • Provide user support and issue / task management.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange on Premise and Exchange Online based e-mail system.
  • Manage on-call support from team on a rotational basis.
  • Develop and manage MIS department expense and capital budgets.

1. KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 8-10 years of experience in hands-on, technical management and maintenance of internal networks of at least 500 nodes, including at least 5 years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Strong expertise and experience in Microsoft networking technologies.
  • Hands on technical expertise with routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Expertise in VMWare Virtualization, including implementation and maintenance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems / Technology, or related field.
  • Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, and CCSE are a plus.

2. SKILLS REQUIRED (manual, verbal or mental manipulation of data or things):

  • All aspects of Microsoft networking, including Active Directory, Windows Server, Microsoft cluster server, IIS, MS, and SNMP.
  • Microsoft Exchange.
  • VMWare Virtualization - including Lab Manager.
  • Network Wiring (Copper and Fiber), switch and router maintenance.
  • EMC SAN Configuration and Management.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong network security skills, including intrusion defense.
  • Strong network communication and application troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong network performance and troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands on technical expertise in TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, BGP, SMTP and other related network technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Dell server hardware, Cisco, F5, Checkpoint and other network hardware.
  • Experience in voice switch technologies, such as AT&T and Avaya.

3. ABILITIES REQUIRED (work characteristics, behaviors, leadership abilities, etc.):

  • Ability to effectively interface with executive management, IT management, and other HealthStream leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and develop a team of strong technical resources.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a substantial workload, including effectively supporting on-going user support requests.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – especially as related to end user communication.
  • Experience meeting deliverable milestones on time and with high quality.
  • Excellent listening and analytic skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a professional environment.
