Veteran's Administrative Support Assistant (Project Management)
Interviews and assists clients with completing forms and reviews them for completeness and accuracy
Stays updated on changes in Federal and State Veterans benefits, programs, and eligibility requirements
Schedules veteran's appointments with VA Medical Centers and coordinates transportation with veterans and volunteer drivers
Records and updates veteran's information on their paper and electronic files
Determines veteran's and dependent's eligibility for burial in State and National Cemeteries
Updates daily records of activities, and updates reports as directed by the CVSO
Coordinates the order and delivery of VA Markers for deceased veterans including reviewing application and finished markers for accuracy and working with cemetery officials and marker installation companies to install VA Markers.
Coordinates the order and delivery of the VA Presidential Memorial Certificates.
Assists and/or performs general office and support duties:
Prepares confidential correspondence for the department head.
Coordinates, schedules and makes arrangements for meetings, appointments, department events, special projects, training sessions, travel, meeting rooms, committee meetings, Board meetings.
Takes meeting minutes; prepares resolutions; prepares agendas and notices; collects, assembles and distributes materials and documents for meetings.
Writes, designs, lays out, and coordinates the distribution of newsletters, flyers, brochures, new releases, or other materials.
Performs receptionist duties, if needed, including handling walk-ins and telephone calls. Provides routine information concerning department programs/services and/or directs to other persons/departments, as appropriate.
Performs data entry into department databases entering client contacts, client information, claims submitted on behalf of clients, etc.
Compiles and assembles materials requested by staff, clients or materials required for bulk mailings.
Assists in making and scheduling transportation services with volunteer drivers and coordinating pickup times and points.
Performs maintenance, updating and tracking of various departmental records, files and documents. Maintains and updates department files, records, case files, and/or other department recordkeeping requirements.
Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.
