Lead HVAC Maintenance Technician - Howard University (Construction)
POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide leadership to Trades department. The lead will have
oversight responsibilities for a group of employees on a specific assignment basis.
The purpose of this position is to supervise, coordinate and record all logistical and technical
details for the HVAC trade shop in conjunction with all planned and scheduled activities
authorized by the trades manager and director.
Responsible for responding to supervisor's work calls in the form of normal work hour
assignments, call backs, and after hour events coverage.
Supervision: Has responsibility, authority, and oversight of HVAC techs I, II,
helpers, and all personnel (internal and external) performing
HVAC related work for or on behalf of Thompson Facilities
Scope of Work: Internal and External contact with Thompson Facilities Services
team, environmental staff, security, physical facilities, building
grounds, vendors, contractors, and staff throughout the Howard
University and Thompson Facilities Services.
Accountabilities: Coordinate, supervise HVAC maintenance activities, advises,
orients, trains and evaluates all HVAC personnel assigned to work
on the campus for or on behalf of Thompson Facilities Services.
Administers proper discipline as required to members of the
HVAC shop and other shop members that perform operational
procedures in conjunction with the HVAC team.
Assist the manager and director in the development of
procedures, policies and regulations pertaining to all phases of the

Provide guidance and counseling to individual HVAC members,
TFS units, and other client-based groups in planning and

the evenings and on weekends.
Prepares and submits to the Manager, a daily preparation of the
HVAC report, indicating specific problems or situations occurring
during the evenings and weekends along with conditions of the
building upon closing. Actual report will be planned and discussed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
DC 3 rd Class operating engineer license or Journeyman's license.
5 years or more of experience
Must possess valid driver's License.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
Lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds
