Real Estate Loan Adjuster III (Project Management)
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
40% Contact delinquent accounts by phone and mail; take appropriate action to bring current.
20% Takes control of specialty areas within the Asset Recovery Department. Specialties include but are not limited to: bankruptcy, repossession, real estate including foreclosures, insurance products including but not limited to collateral protection insurance, credit counseling, loan modifications, department supervision and working with our collection partners. Supervision includes but is not limited to: schedule and monitor daily activities of collectors; train, direct and work with collection manager to identify performance issues and take action to correct. Resolves problematic issues and guides collection personnel in making sound decisions. Acts as a back up to the Asset Recovery Management team during absences.
15% Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers; make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
5% Maintains a high level of training and education pursuant to this position.
5% Inform management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans.
5% Work closely with legal counsel to resolve accounts effectively.
5% Maintain accurate files and report on all collections activity.
5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: A high school education or GED. NMLS Licensing required.
Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Skills
1. Knowledge of collections and experience with all collection procedures.
2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, members, and general public.
3. Excellent member service skills.
4. Detail oriented, common sense decision-making; above average oral, written and communications skills.
5. Must have working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; be able to use PC and general office equipment including 10-key calculator.
6. Occasional travel may be required.
7. Comply with credit union/departmental training requirements.
8. Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude is required.
9. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
10. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as profitability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
