This Laboratory Manager will manage day-to-day operations of the Shiva lab in the Vascular Medicine Institute, as well as contribute scientifically to projects investigating the role of reactive nitrogen species in regulating mitochondrial function in the vasculature and platelets. The incumbent will assist senior lab members with the design and planning of protocols and experiments, and perform tissue culture, complex biochemical experiments, and contribute to developing novel transgenic murine models. The incumbent will also assist in the coordination and running of the Bioenergetic Core Facility (part of the Center for Metabolism and Mitochondrial Medicine) and the NO Metabolomics Core Facility (within the Vascular Medicine Institute). The incumbent will execute the intricate and highly developed experiments utilizing Seahorse analysis (Bioenergetic Core) and Nitric Oxide Analyzer measurements (NO Core) and will perform analysis of the data. The incumbent must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, be an excellent communicator in English, and have an understanding of advanced scientific principles. The individual will be expected to work both independently as well as part of a team.Substitution of equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
