The business provides comprehensive middle office and administration services, including trade processing, asset servicing, valuation and profit and loss reporting, cash and collateral management, reconciliations, accounting and NAV calculations and investor servicing and reporting.
Role
The job involves working on a team working for Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services, a Global fund administrator, specializing in administering assets of complex clients, including hedge funds. This person will contribute to the daily responsibilities through accurate and timely processing of corporate actions for client accounts. This involves researching and rectifying discrepancies in the corporate action cash and position reconciliations. The partner should have prior experience with both mandatory and voluntary corporate events in order to add value in the role. The role involves direct contact and communication with external clients as well as other teams within Northern Trust, both onshore and offshore.
We have positions in Chicago, IL and Tempe, AZ.
Responsibilities
•Responsible for the daily processing of corporate action events with internal and external clients across global markets. •Collect data, process and reconcile events between the administrative books and the prime broker records. •Research and resolve reconciliation items, either cash or stock, relating to corporate actions/dividend processing. •Establish and maintain strong working relationship with global team members, clients, prime brokers, agents, depositories and third party vendors. •Remain current on market trends and industry issues/regulations related to corporate actions. •Apply industry, processing and technical knowledge by participating in team projects for new and existing client base. •Suggest, document, and participate in process improvements and automation projects. •Identify more cost/time efficient ways of executing the teams' responsibilities, including working with offshore teams on support. •Ensure events flowing down are accurate and validate prior to accepting client elections. •Escalate issues as appropriate. •Ensure voluntary event signoffs are executed as per procedures. •Cash & Position Breaks, identifying themes of breaks to improve efficiencies and aged break review with team. Work with the team and aim to reduce breaks count. •Engagement in project work on ad-hoc basis, including functional and regression testing new functionality prior to production release.
Skills / Experience
•1-3+ years professional work experience with 0-1+ yrs relevant industry experience •Mandatory and voluntary CA processing experience preferred. •Knowledge of operational and accounting principles, familiar with financial markets and instruments •Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint •Excellent written and oral communication skills •Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities •Proven team player, taking ownership for own role while contributing to wider team efforts •Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines in a demanding and fast paced environment •Excellent people skills; ability to dynamically act as knowledgeable point of reference to co-workers •Highly flexible and adaptable to change •Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or related subject preferred About Northern Trust:
