Marketing Writer
Reporting to the Creative Services Manager, the Marketing Writer primarily is responsible for researching, writing, editing, updating and proofreading copy for a range of communication channels, including web, print and email marketing. The Marketing Writer maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but may not be limited to, the following. Other duties may be requested and/or assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position. Primary responsibilities include developing content in support of firm and individual attorney marketing and business development efforts, including but not limited to firm brochures, attorney biographies, and internal and external newsletters and publications. Additional practice-related support includes developing brochures and substantive industry- or practice-focused client communications and managing client advisories.
Proofread and edit marketing materials and other written communications to ensure quality and consistency of information and brand voice.
Coordinate the design and production process for all formatted materials with the firm's Desktop Publishing team and outside vendors as appropriate.
Facilitate and manage special projects as requested.
Develop comprehensive understanding of the firm's style guide. Contribute to, refine and enforce firmwide editorial standards and style.
Work with the Web Administrator to keep content updated on the firm's website.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or related field, and five-plus years of experience as a writer or editor, or in a related communications role; preferably in a legal or other professional services firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to compile and analyze complex data, gather information, and effectively communicate concise, detailed information verbally and in writing.
Considerable writing flexibility, capable of adjusting writing style and direction with minimal effort.
Ability to learn and understand an audience and produce appropriate content.
Skilled at conducting interviews and eliciting information from subject matter experts.
Thorough mastery of grammar and punctuation; knowledge of The Associate Press Stylebook.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and database management required. Knowledge of HTML, PowerPoint and SharePoint is a plus.
Exhibit high degree of initiative and critical-thinking skills in order to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detailed-oriented work environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside vendors/contacts.
Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work independently and make decisions based upon results of research and within scope of the position's responsibilities. Strong problem solver and consensus builder.
Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer, laser printer, telephone, photocopier, scanner, calculator, facsimile, etc.d
