thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions is looking for a Project Cost Controller to actively support our projects from bidding to completion with cost controlling expertise
Position is part of our Project Controls/Commercial group (Commercial, Cost Controlling, Scheduling, Contract/Change management)
based in Denver, Colorado with some travel
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in SAP-PS (budgets, expected/actual costs)
Maintaining Cost-to-Complete Analysis for projects in close cooperation with Project Controls/Commercial Project Manager, Project Manager, Lead Engineers, and Procurement Manager
Maintaining project P&L/forecast (project revenue, cost, and result) according to IFRS and Percentage of Completion (PoC) method by month/quarter end
Align with Accounting regarding chart of accounts, cost coding, invoice requirements and approvals, cost systems interface, labor hours and rates, project audits and other cost related issues
Preparation and management of monthly cost reports according to company regulations and additional project specific internal and external (e.g. customer) requirements;
Check of proper cost allocation and booking as well as proactive identification of potential cost risks and deviations in a timely manner to project management. Ensure appropriate coding of time-sheets, review of requisitions and invoices
Carry out plausibility and random checks of the bid estimate (regarding amounts and cost allocation to WBS-elements), the budget (regarding internal/external changes of price and budgets), and the Expectation at Completion (EAC) (rolling forecast) at regular intervals (monthly/quarterly) regarding labor and material
Involvement in the resource planning/estimation (hours) together with Scheduling and tracking of performance and status of engineering deliverables/hours
Assess cost impact of changes and support change order process together with other team members. Assist the Contract Manager and Project Change Manager in estimating the additional and/or reduced scope of work
Analyze, discuss and report cost variances from the previous month with the Project Management and other stakeholders
Support Project/Bid Manager in the assessment of contingencies
Align with Procurement regarding material & contract requirements, RFQ / RFP processes, bid re-view & analysis, PO and contractual terms, commitments, expediting, and systems interface, review and analyze subcontractor cost reports, analyze and report PO commitments and expenditures, including progress payments and mile-stones
Work with construction management regarding construction cost control and reporting, as required
Track cost metrics and work with Estimator to develop historical bench-marking data
Provide continuous improvement to identify cost effective methods and strategies for accomplishing project goals
Support project close out activities (last project cost reporting, set up of close out and/or warranty accruals etc)
Your profile
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business, finance or other relevant field (accounting, finance, or business strongly preferred)
AACEI CCP / Certified Cost Professional or EVP/ Earned Value Professional preferred
Required Technical Knowledge:
Excellent SAP skills mandatory (5 years+)
Excellent MS Excel skills
Further Software skills preferred: PRISM, other cost / accounting databases, PM/cost databases
Required Experience:
Substantial experience in cost controlling for EP/EPC projects mandatory (minimum 5 years)
Industry experience in mining equipment or a related industry
Further experience in project controls, change/claims management, scheduling preferred
