Proactiv is a division of Galderma, the world's largest independent dermatology company. The Packaging Engineer II is responsible for creation of product and packaging specifications as well as component qualification activities at The Proactiv Company. This position provides technical support with contract manufacturing and filling/packaging processes, and leads package material qualification activities. This role liaises with Package and Product Development, contract manufacturers and component suppliers to ensure successful commercialization of products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Own product formula and packaging specification files for ongoing compliant production.
• Initiate change controls (stemming from a quality issue, continuous improvement idea, maintenance, or modifications in process) and perform documentation and follow-ups to implement changes.
• Oversee process-related post-production technical activities.
• Evaluate/approve final packaging production molds from development, in support of steady-state productions.
• Own revisions to product specifications against manufacturability and provides technical support with manufacturing and filling activities.
• Support product/package development efforts in defining packaging materials for new products and performing necessary testing to meet suitability criteria for finished product compatibility and stability.
• Provide technical review and approval of protocols and reports related to process, filling/packaging, and test method validation activities.
• Participate/Lead multifunctional project teams to assure that new products are introduced in accordance with Quality System requirements.

Travel & Residency
El Segundo, CA
• 3-5 years of experience in one or more of these fields; process design, packaging design, product development, consumer products or cosmetics manufacturing, Quality Control/Assurance, and Supply Chain.
• Experience working within the Pharmaceutical, Cosmetics, CPG (consumer packaged goods) industry is required.
• Chemistry Background or experience with Raw Materials is preferred.
• Must have the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional teams and influence decision making in complex situations.
• Experience in implementation, troubleshooting, and continual improvement with development/approval of product specifications, change control, process filling/packaging validation, and contract manufacturing oversight.
• Experience in outsourcing of manufacturing/testing desirable with track record of successful working with third-party vendors, preferred.
• Strong collaborator and inclusive partner with internal business and technical partners, as well as with external stakeholders and customers.
• Project management skills for an accurate and timely transfer of the product/package design into manufacturing environment. Ability to manage tight deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
