Home & kitchen associate updates editor, reviews (Creative Design)
Insider Inc. is looking for a Home & Kitchen Associate Updates Editor to join our growing Reviews team.
The Reviews team is dedicated to providing our audience with honest, straight-forward reviews of brands, products, and services that we believe will maximize our readers' lives. Our service-driven content gives readers the answers about what is actually worth their time and money, whether it's a set of bedsheets that works for warm and cold weather or a robot vacuum that you can schedule for daily runs.
This role is specifically focused on updating and elevating our existing library of home and kitchen buying guides (for example: the best mattresses, the best espresso machines), and developing complementary evergreen stories such as comparisons, reviews, FAQs, how-tos, and more with the support of freelancers and in-house reporters. This role will involve product testing as well as equal parts writing and editing. There will be opportunities to test products across all categories and write new buying guides, reviews, and more.
The ideal candidate has excellent editing, writing, researching, and fact-checking skills; is focused and detailed; and has a passion for finding the best home and kitchen products. They have extensive knowledge of the home and kitchen industry to be able to spot gaps in coverage and have established relationships with brands to access review units for testing and industry experts to add more authority to stories. They are confident and discerning when reviewing products and can describe the pros and cons of any item with conviction, while incorporating Insider Inc.'s voice and authority in the copy.
If you bring strong editing, writing, and home and kitchen product reviewing experience, and want to help readers find out about the best new products, this is a great opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Update existing home and kitchen buying guides and evergreen stories with new product selections as items are tested
Assign updates and evergreen stories to freelancers and in-house reporters, and edit
Develop standardized testing parameters for priority home and kitchen categories when updating buying guides
Track high-performing articles and develop an updates calendar
Assign, write, and edit new buying guides and evergreen stories as needed
Assist in elevating buying guides with expert input, testing notes, and more
Fact-check stories
Optimize stories using SEO best practices
Test new home and kitchen products as they launch
Desired requirements:
At least 1 years of editing experience within the home and kitchen space and a strong understanding of how to shape and edit a story
At least 1 years of home and kitchen product reviewing and testing experience with an encyclopedic knowledge of the best brands and products
At least 1 year of experience working with freelance writers
A strong eye for spotting gaps in current coverage and spotting category trends to cover
The ability to digest data and make informed, strategic decisions about content and calendar planning
Experience interviewing industry experts for context and content
Experience using SEO best practices to optimize content
A strong network of PR and industry contacts
A basic understanding of our audience and writing style, and a willingness to learn our style
