Environmental Engineer or Scientist (OAK) (Finance)
Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking two full-time Environmental Engineers or Scientists for our Oakland, CA or Rancho Cordova, CA office.

Tetra Tech is seeking individuals with a strong technical background in environmental site investigation and remediation who are interested in career growth and business development opportunities while managing and supporting a variety of environmental projects. You will:
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of practical scientific or environmental engineering work experience in performing the responsibilities listed below; or 3 years and possessing Master's Degree in relevant discipline. Must have demonstrated experience conducting site investigations, environmental sampling of various media, groundwater well design and installation experience, knowledgeable in hydrogeology, preparing feasibility studies, remedial action work plans, remedial designs, and implementing site remediation to achieve site closure. In addition, you should have experience with site investigation remedial design, practical field experience implementing site characterization and remediation technologies. The candidate should have experience working on field projects under federal and state regulatory programs.
Candidate must possess strong analytical, organizational, client management, interpersonal, project management skills, and communication skills (both written and verbal). Must also be highly motivated, customer focused and work well in a team environment. Previous client management and business development success experience is desirable. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel is required.
In addition, the candidate will have:
The work involves both office and field environments. The employee must be able to conduct necessary outdoor fieldwork, year-round in a variety of environments, weather, and topography. Fieldwork requires regular and recurring work in variable outdoor environments, packing heavy equipment, and excavations using hand tools. A physical capacity for working outdoors, often in isolated and remote areas, is required. Work is performed where terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky, and covered with vegetation. Climate ranges from extremely dry to extremely wet and from hot to cold. Rain, snow, wind, or dust may be encountered. The work may require the use of protective clothing. Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment will be required. You must be able to carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds) and don personal protective gear as needed. Candidate must also meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work.
Travel is required and varies based on project requirements; may include weekend travel and work. This position requires roughly 35% travel.
This position requires you to drive on a regular basis and will require passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check.
Communication Skills - Must demonstrate technical writing/editing ability of technical reports, professional and team-oriented work environment, good interpersonal communication and oral presentation skills, and exceptional attention to details, planning and organizing, and quality required.
Computer Skills - Must be computer literate and have a strong working knowledge of MS Office programs and ability to use engineering analytical and statistical programs.
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as government regulations, safety plans, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customer or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills - Knowledge of advanced mathematics used for technical analyses and calculations.
Reasoning Ability - Analytical approach to problem solving. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
