The primary patients served on 3 rd Surgical include: thoracic, vascular, general surgery, orthopedic, neurosurgery, ears nose and throat (ENT), eye, oral, and maxillofacial surgery, major breast, and plastics/reconstructive surgery. The medical diagnoses include: back pain, abdominal pain, bowel obstruction, pancreatitis, pneumothorax, and closed head trauma as well as patients with radiology or endoscopy procedures. Telemetry is remotely monitored.

Position description
The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
Qualifications
Must meet one of these qualification, successful completion of a Nursing Assistant program or equivalent within the past five years, enrolled in a nursing degree program and have completed one semester of clinical rotations through an acute care hospital setting within the last five years, or one year or more within the last five years providing direct cares a nursing assistant, patient care assistant, or related experience in a healthcare setting.
Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS - certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.
Additional qualifications
Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.
License or certification
Maintain Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides. We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:
