Credit Service Representative (Finance)

The principal challenge of this position is to facilitate the sale of products while minizing working capital in accounts receivable for a customer base that includes the US, Canada, Mexico and Central America. This position requires a complete working knowledge of credit practices, commerical and legal instruments and financial analysis and a background in sales and marketing practices . The incumbent must have a good working knowledge of the above to appreciate and understand the exposure and risk involved in the approval of credit terms on a sales order. Under the direction of a credit manager, the successful candidate will perform the following duties on a portfolio of commercial accounts.
1. Assess credit on commercial clients and make recommendations as to customer credit limits and credit controls. Advise and counsel sales, BU and customer personnel on sales/credit relations
2. Perform collections activities on overdue invoices and generate pay cycle improvements on assigned accounts. The successful candidate will be able to solve operational problems of low/moderate complexity by teaming with internal colleagues and external clients. Assure the prompt collection of assigned customer accounts.
3. Develop and maintain strong and productive working relationships with BU Commercial/Finance staff members as well as external clients
4. Suggest and help develop methods for improving service levels, productivity and overall effectiveness.
The successful candidate:
(a) will be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
(b) will possess solid business acumen and customer service orientation;
(d) must be willing to travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
Ensure that (where applicable) the supply chain is made aware of their food safety obligations as our partner in the quest to deliver a safe product to the consuming public.
Bachelors degree
Extensive knowledge of credit practices, commercial and legal instruments and financial reports
Background in sales/customer service and order entry procedures and experience in monthly closing of A/R accounts
Knowledge of PC's and credit and collection software systems
Strong written and verbal communication
