Position Summary: Provides professional and technical support to the pathology lab by assisting with and creating high quality images for clinical review and research. Position Key Accountabilities:
Essential Functions
Operates and maintains whole slide image scanners
Logs and tracks incoming and outgoing histology slides
Organizes and assures slides are clean and free of defect or artifacts
Prepares and loads slide cartridges and trays into scanners
Provides technical support to faculty, residents, and staff, on the proper use of software
Triages slides and ensures the scanning in order of priority
Troubleshoots with vendors and IT regarding software and hard ware issues or malfunctions
Identifies and documents issues with quality assurances
Keeps abreast of HIPAA, CAP, and CLIA guidelines
Quality controls scanned images to ensure it meets required quality for review
Maintains equipment and perform regular maintenance checks to ensure equipment is properly functioning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word, Excel, Office
Excellent Communication and organizational skills
Familiarizes with and learns and runs new software applications as required
Digital Pathology Certification preferred
Minimum Education: Associate's Degree with preferred major in Biology, and/or Physical Sciences; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. required Bachelor's Degree in Biology or Physical Sciences preferred Minimum Experience: 1 year experience in anatomic and/or clinical pathology required 1 year professional IT experience, including providing technical guidance required Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
