The Pilot-in-Command reports directly to the Lead Captain. The Pilot-In-Command is designated by HAK on the Crew Trip Sheet and exercises operational control and is responsible for safe transportation of passengers and crewmembers during all aircraft operations. The duties and responsibilities are listed below. The PIC may delegate duties but not the responsibility for those duties. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Final authority for the operation of the aircraft assigned.
Authority to delay, cancel or discontinue a flight when, in their opinion conditions are unsuitable for the conduct or continuation of the flight.
Authority to indicate a change in the planned flight during the flight when, in their opinion, such a change is appropriate for the safe operation of the aircraft.
Shall become familiar with all available information required for the safe operation of that flight, including:
Flight planned route;
Weather Reports and forecasts;
Fuel requirements;
Alternatives available if the flight cannot be completed as planned;
Any known traffic delays;
Airports/Heliports of intended use
Performance requirements;
NOTAMs and TFRs;
Airport/facility Directory and applicable State Aeronautical Publications;
Any specific information relative to special operations.
Institute all necessary changes as required by enroute conditions such that the flight may continue under appropriate procedures and rules.
Responsible for conducting the flight in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with, but not limited to the following items:
Reviewing the maintenance status of the aircraft to ensure the aircraft's airworthiness for the intended flight.
The conduct of a proper preflight inspection in accordance with the approved Flight Manual or accepted preflight checklist.
A complete check of weather and facilities along the route to be flown and airport to be used.
Ensure the flight is conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
Determine that weight and balance procedures are followed, and that the gross weight and CG of the loaded aircraft are within limits for operation.
Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, aircraft and crew.
Accurate completion of all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures which includes all required documentation for international operations.
Ensure that a flight will be diverted to the nearest suitable landing site if a crew member is unfit for duty, due to causes such as injury, sickness or fatigue.
Make an immediate report to the Director of Aviation using a Hazard Report on any hazardous action, conduct, or event.

Qualifications:
3,500 Total Time - Preferred
1,000 Pilot-In-Command Time - Preferred
500hr Off Shore Helicopter experience - Preferred
Experience supervising, directing, and maintaining the training of direct reports in the performance of routine duties preferred.
Acts upon an acquired knowledge of how equipment functions, anticipates and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of aviation equipment are affected.
Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate aviation equipment unsupervised, while maintaining equipment in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.
Ability to travel to remote locations via large and small planes, helicopter or boat, and ability to don and doff immersion suit.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
Education Requirements:
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
