MAJOR FUNCTIONS
This is a skilled position working with an electrician in the construction, maintenance and repair of electric power, lighting, HVAC and communication systems of City facilities and equipment. Applicant should have working knowledge and experience in activities of electrical and telecommunications in construction, maintenance, and repair of electric power, lighting, communication systems, of City facilities and equipment. This is an emergency essential position that requires performance of emergency actions to prepare, repair and recover the City before, during and after any adverse storm events (hurricane, tornado, ice storm, tropical storm, etc.) or other conditions (natural or man-made).Work is performed under the general direction of the Electrical Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Assist electricians in wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures, such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, controllers and fuse boxes, in compliance with blueprints, schematic drawings, and sketches.Install wiring and fixtures conforming to specification of local electrical codes.Follow written and verbal instructions.Use test equipment, such as a voltmeter and ohmmeter.Use hand tools of the electrical trade, power tools, ditch witch, bucket truck and chain sawsWork under adverse conditions, (heat, cold, inclement weather) and be able to perform manual type labor (digging, heavy lifting, etc.).Work at heights well above ground level from/ out of various types of equipment.
Must be available to work outside regular work hours when called upon by on-call staff or when required by Supervisor or Mgmt.(overtime). Plans wiring and installation of equipmentPerforms other related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of the methods, practices and techniques used in the work assigned.General knowledge of the materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair of building d electrical systemsKnowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in the work.Also must be willing and able to work at heights well above ground level from/ out of various types of equipment.Applicant must also be able to work under adverse conditions, (heat, cold, inclement weather) and be able to perform manual type labor (digging, heavy lifting, etc.)Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required.Must possess a minimum Florida CDL Class B license, with air brake endorsement, or have the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment (stipulation to hire).
A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

This position may require lifting up to 100 lbs and carrying up to 100 lbs.
