Survey Tech 4 - Party Chief (Architecture)
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and applicable laws.
Purpose:
The Survey Tech 4 is assigned a project for which he is the lead crew member of a two or three person field crew.
Function:
The Survey Tech 4 will be in charge of the other members of the crew.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review crew assignment with the Project Manager, Field Coordinator or Survey Tech 5 who may prepared the Task assignment form.
Understands the scope and budget for the work to be performed.
Explain the objective for the day's assignment to the crew members.
Meet inspectors or client representative for site specific requirements.
Is the point of contact between the crew members and the office.
Leads the crew members to efficiently complete the work for the day.
Understands how the work of the crew is brought in to drawings.
Reviews the completed work with Survey Tech 5 to answer deficiencies or to understand improvements to methodologies.
Solve problems that may arise on the jobsite.
Accurately complete daily time report.
Set up and operate instruments and back sight with heights.
Set up base and rover accurately measure height and record time.
Draw sketches of control points.
Understands simple mathematics.
Converts units of measurement (i.e. inches to tenths of foot).
Draw clear sketches of survey areas.
Prepare clear field notes for the work.
Has thorough understanding of what surveying is and methods used to perform the
particular types of surveys.
Set up a total station.
Teach others how to use the total station.
Ensure that crew members treat each other and customers/venders with respect
and behavior is aligned with organizational values.
Complete a closed traverse.
Read a deed, map or plat.
Identify important features for topographic surveys.
Identify boundary corners and evidence of occupation.
Understand bearings and azimuths.
Perform boundary survey.
Perform topographic survey.
Perform stakeout.
Perform as-built survey.
Uses the best choice of equipment and methodologies to exceed the expectations of
the client.
Follow scope of work as defined by contract or client approved changes.
Efficiently lead the crew members to deliver quality and timely work product.
Address complaints and provide resolution to ensure quality deliverables
The Survey Tech 4 will have successful experiences leading a field crew for boundary,
topographic and existing conditions surveys, construction stakeout and as-built surveys.
Valid Driver's License.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
Walk over rough terrain.
Lift or carry over 50 pounds.
Able to carry standard survey equipment and supplies.
