The Electrical Designer II coordinates and is responsible for electrical design, drafting and documentation. The position involves intermediate level design of electrical schematics and component layouts, electrical system documentation, and assistance in field service troubleshooting. This individual provides the primary interface between the electrical engineering department and electrical manufacturing group by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create ECN, part numbers and bill of materials using manufacturing software.
• Create electrical schematic, detail and assembly drawings.
• Ensure that designs are drawn in accordance with drafting standards.
• Maintains product safety in designs.
• Ensure that designs meet required regulatory codes.
• Check drawings and bill of materials for others in the department.
• Provide technical support to other departments in the company.
• Interface with customers on specific needs and requirements.
• Interface with vendors.
• Participates in company safety meetings and safety awareness.
• Ensure the electrical engineering aspect of product documentation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor degree with 2-4 years electrical design experience
• Associate degree (or equiv.) in electrical engineering technology and 4-6 years of drafting experience, or
• Minimum 5 years of electrical design experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, comprehend and write in English.
• Ability to effectively present technical information, to colleagues, customers and vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• As per engineering technology associate degree requirements.
REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• AutoCAD, MicroStations, Promis*e
• Manufacturing/Inventory software
• Spreadsheet and word processor software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficient in AutoCAD/or equivalent, MicroStations, Promis*e and Solid Works is a plus.
• Understand electrical design principals and control circuits.
• Machine technologies and practices
• Understand the Electrical codes that apply to our product lines.
• Knowledge of hazardous Area maps and requirements
• Design creativity
• Ability to assist field service technicians when required.
