Studio Director, Scripps Sports (Temporary) (Creative Design)



Are you ready to shape the visual storytelling of live sports programming? Scripps Sports is seeking a creative Studio Director who will deliver high-quality, engaging live sports programming that supports our broader strategic objectives. You'll oversee the end-to-end live production process in the studio to deliver visually compelling, professional sports coverage while being responsible for the overall creative vision of the broadcast. This remote position puts you at the creative helm of our studio productions, making real-time decisions that captivate sports audiences nationwide.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Direct camera shots, graphics, replays, and other visual elements during live studio shows and pre/post-game coverage ensuring that the program aligns with the creative vision

  • Communicate with and provide guidance to the production crew to ensure a seamless and high-quality broadcast

  • Make quick, real-time decisions about what is being shown on the screen, adapting to changing situations or unexpected events during live programming. This may include switching between different camera feeds, choosing replays, and deciding when to cut to commercial breaks for special segments

  • Collaborate with producers, analysts, and other stakeholders to enhance the presentation of sports content

  • Maintain professionalism and a high-energy production environment

  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred

  • Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong understanding of sports broadcasting, including different sports, rules, and presentation formats

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and thrive in a high-stress environment

  • Creativity and innovative thinking to enhance the sports viewing experience
