ROLE OVERVIEW: Responsible for the oversight of all plant quality assurance and control programs, practices and procedures in support of established production standards and company business objectives. Develops and oversees implementation of effective and consistent quality management systems throughout assigned location(s) that will meet or exceed internal and external customer needs and expectations. Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 4-8 years of relevant experience. Experience with training and providing leadership to colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, implements and improves quality assurance programs, product quality standards, and quality plans, in collaboration with the Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Advises and consults plant management on all quality-related issues. Provides training, coaching and mentoring regarding product quality standards, quality plans and company Quality System (QS) application use.
  • Performs periodic testing and documents results for certification and compliance purposes. Develops reports, files and other administrative paperwork in support of quality plans and systems.
  • Interacts with customers and suppliers to aid in resolution of major quality issues. Leads issue-related projects and assists plant with establishing effective corrective actions.
  • Monitors adherence to established quality standards, recommending changes as needed. Supports continuous process improvement initiatives and incorporates Lean Manufacturing principles. Ensures the maintenance/revision of relevant documentation.
  • Assists with designing, implementing, maintaining, auditing and improving plant-wide Quality Management Systems.
  • Administers, supports and utilizes the QS applications software as a system administrator. Monitors the effective use of the various QS applications. 
  • Communicates goals and objectives, applies company policy, staffs, trains, coaches, recommends salary increases, ensures positive colleague relations and reviews the performance of colleagues.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of ISO certification and compliance within the plant, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 and other relevant ISO standards.
  • Supports and participates in the implementation and continuous improvement of the production system.  
  • Designs, institutes, and documents quality assurance programs.
  • Responsible for on-site coordination of the ISO certification.
  • Investigates and addresses customer complaints. Performs root cause analysis, determines corrective actions and evaluates the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Conducts internal audits for all departments and administers third party quality audits.
  • Advises and consults with all departments on all continuous improvement and quality-related issues.
  • Reviews monthly customer inventory reports for accuracy. Reconciles variances between company's and customers' systems.  
  • Coordinates and administers physical inventories.
  • May be responsible for completing laboratory analysis testing.
  • Communicates goals and objectives, applies company policy, staffs, trains, coaches, recommends salary increases, ensures positive colleague relations and reviews the performance of colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience

  • Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 4-8 years of relevant experience. Experience with training and providing leadership to colleagues. 

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Possesses in-depth experience with quality/assurance control in a high-volume production setting.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Possesses excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work with testing equipment and maintain accurate documentation records.
  • Demonstrates high degree of motivation and is analytical and results-oriented.
  • Knowledge of ISO, Total Quality Management, Lean tools, and statistical techniques is a plus.
  • Quality/engineering certifications are a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations is a plus.
  • Travel may be required.

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $73,600.00 - $125,400.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $85,000.00 to $90,000.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
