Moog, Inc
Sr. GN&C Engineer (Finance)
We are looking for a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GN&C) Engineer for a position within the Flight Systems and Controls Group in our Golden, CO location. The Moog Space Advanced Programs business unit within Moog Space and Defense Group specializes in the development of propulsive secondary payload adapters called Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle (OMV) that are often built around the Moog ESPA ring. The OMV is a family of capabilities supporting CubeSats through high-end Small Satellite platforms and payloads for a wide range of customers. The Moog enterprise provides engineering services and delivers products for applications ranging from space launch vehicles and satellites to aircraft, ground vehicles and semiconductor manufacturing equipment for commercial and defense customers.
You will serve as the focal point for the development and communication of the GN&C architecture related to space vehicle applications within a technical team, Customers, and Moog Space Executives. As a lead, you will ensure conversion of mission requirements into complete systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system as well as develop system element architecture, design, and interface definitions. You will be heavily-involved in supporting internal and external design reviews, working closely with program managers in an agile-led environment. You will also be developing models and architectural guidelines for future system development and integration with other Moog space vehicle concepts. This role will be pivotal in the development of new space vehicle product lines within Moog.
The position will be a member of a team responsible for hardware and software development of unique most often 1-of-a-kind systems. Typical OMV applications include being a "smart upper stage", in-space transfer vehicle, and as a hosted payload platform. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and working side-by-side with other engineers in a team environment and will be exposed to all functional areas of engineering.
The OMV team leverages experiences from across the Moog enterprise so it is essential to be able to work effectively with a remote team with locations in California, Colorado, Arizona, and New York. Customers are primarily US-based but some will be international. This position is for a GN&C engineer who can work in a team to establish the baseline for space vehicles. This position will report to the program manager and to the Systems Engineering lead. The responsibility includes developing the guidance, navigation, & control from design through execution for space flight programs.
Required Qualifications: 8-10 years of applicable spacecraft engineering experience with at least 5 of that in Spacecraft GN&C Engineering
Preferred Qualifications: Experience functioning within an agile development team. Familiarity with DOORS (or other requirements management tool), STK (or other space simulation tools), and MATLAB. Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as Matlab/SysML and MBSE processes
Moog Advanced Programs offers an outstanding work/learning environment where growth opportunities abound. We are a small division of approximately 20 team members, yet are a business unit within a global corporation, providing you with the perfect mix of an entrepreneurial/fast-paced environment and the stability of a large company.
