HOME CONNECT Quality & Test Engineer
New Bern, NC / Full-time
As Quality & Test Engineer Home Connect Operations you will support our mission to provide an exciting, seamless experience for our consumers with their connected home appliances. In this capacity, you will attend to, and manage regional incidents, execute end-to-end tests with the intention to break the system, and be the interface between our Care Lines, Social Media Officers and Development. In addition you will support our Development in the monitoring of Firmware Updates and provide pre-release tests if needed. In this role, you will be part of and instrumental for our new operations lab in the region North America.
Responsibilities
Understand the working of Home Connect, its infrastructure, as well as features released and about to be released to market
Attend to Home Connect consumer incidents reported by our regional Care Lines or regional and global Social Media officers by understanding, analyzing, reproducing, solving or routing and tracking them, until they can be closed
Conduct Post Release Tests, as well as regular ongoing tests on a representative selection of home appliances with the intention to ensure overall system stability, a great user experience, as well as identifying potential field issues by attempting to break the system
Report problems via our bug-reporting tool Jira
Keep an overview (dashboard) of all reported regional issues and be on top of their status until they are resolved
Follow up on reported bugs to ensure their timely resolution. Escalate whenever needed.
Retest issues once resolved to ensure proper resolution
Monitor Firmware Update rollouts until they are successfully concluded and in the event of a problem, inform, and liaise with necessary stakeholders
Continuously and pro-actively increase your Home Connect knowledge
Align with global test management and regional colleagues to plan and schedule tests needed for regional releases
Pro-actively align with necessary stakeholders to be informed about new product and/or software releases for the region North America
Identify process gaps and communicate, ideally with a proposal, to your superior
Manage home appliance and end devices inventory of the operations lab
Your Profile
Bachelor of Science degree
High interest in Smart Home and Internet of Things solutions
Minimum of 2 years of experience in software and/or hardware testing
Passion for breaking the system to find flaws and enhance the user experience
Experience and interest in problem solving (trouble shooting, root cause analysis)
Experience in incidence ticketing tools (e.g Jira) – nice to have
Test automation skills (desired)
Can and is interested to work with appliances on an electronic level – e.g. flashing of electrical control units
Network skills
Is able to analyze wireshark logs or similar (nice to have)
Proficient with test standards, tools and management
Detail-oriented and prepared to dig deep to identify underlying root-causes of issues
Quick learner, self-starter, curious and high level of initiative & ownership
Ability to prioritize, follow up on issues, keep the overview, and work in a structured way
Ability to communicate with both technical experts as well as management, to ensure complex topics are understood
Good documentation skills
Ability to work in a global, distributed team within various time zones, different user groups and cultural backgrounds
Agile mindset, understanding of Agile Methods/Scrum beneficial
Use of normal office equipment; e.g., computer, mobile phones/apps/tablets
Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Flexibility in working time
