WATER PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.

DESCRIPTION

As a part of our Project Management team, the Water Resources Lead will manage the design and construction of complex transportation and civil drainage systems, Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Plans, storm-water management facilities, NPDES permitting, and H&H analysis. The Water Resources Lead will lead stormwater and H&H aspects of projects in Ohio and regionally; will engage with Michael Baker's Great Lakes region (western PA to Minnesota) water resources group, coordinating on technical and workload issues; responsible for task budget and schedules; attending and actively participating in client meetings; assisting in developing marketing proposals.

  • Demonstrate technical ability in design of common water resources task such as design of storm water management systems, pipe hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, scour, Floodplain Evaluation, and show experience with NPDES Permit Compliance both in documentation (i.e. SWDR and WQMP documents) and design of water quality BMPs.

  • Work closely with the clients in project office as part of a multi-discipline team.

  • Develop project scope of work documents and project plans that include an analysis of benefit, cost, work schedule, and any related risks.

  • Monitor and communicate project related issues, scope changes variances and contingencies that may arise during the construction of projects.

  • Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to Construction related conflicts and RFIs.

  • Meet with and effectively communicate with project partners, project stakeholders and general public to maintain strong relationships.

  • Make frequent trips to project site to evaluate progress and status.

    PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering degree

  • Professional Engineer license

  • 5-10 years of experience in related water resources design and management

  • Naturally, you'll need computer skills (Microsoft Office), analysis software such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, InfoWorks ICM, Bentley Pondpack or similar (i.e. ICPR, PONDS), Flo-2D and SWMM models, Microstation, Inroads, and MS Project/Primavera. AutoCAD is a plus.
