Peer Advocate (Personal Services)



This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Provides support services to the participants of the Residence Program as part of the Outreach Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and maintain appropriate treatment plan for all assigned cases.
  • Maintain clinical progress notes concerning client's progress in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Assist in crisis situations with direct assessments, referrals for additional services, one-on-one supervision and discharge proceedings.
  • Assist in the upkeep and hygiene of the residents.
  • Attend community meetings as needed and represent the YMCA.
  • Promote recovery, empowerment and participation in community services.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • HS/GED required. Some college in counseling, social work or related field preferred.
  • Six months prior work experience with the adult mental health population.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Part time, 24 hours a week

Education

Required
  • High School Diploma/GED or better
Preferred
  • Some college or better in Social Work or related field
