The Boise State University Children's Center has openings for 12-month, year-round positions, 7:00am - 5:30pm, Monday-Friday. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and offer a great work environment with $11.25 per hour and full benefits.
Our current openings are in the infant and toddler program (ages 0-3) and in the 3-5 year looping program.
Position Overview
Assistant Teachers are responsible for supporting the emotional and educational needs of all young children enrolled in the program, ages 8 weeks to five years old. They assist Lead Teachers with intentionally preparing and maintaining an enriched learning environment for individual children based on developmentally appropriate program guidelines according to NAEYC accreditation standards and Idaho Early Learning eGuidelines . Assistant teachers must be available for flexible shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher assess the needs of each child in their classroom and uses this assessment data to individualize instruction to support each child's developing skills and knowledge. The Assistant Teacher is held accountable for nurturing all children, responding to their interests and needs, and making learning meaningful with concrete, evidence-based methods. The Assistant Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the curriculum, developing ongoing positive partnerships with parents, and providing responsive, respectful care for individual needs of children; supervising and evaluating all classroom staff, volunteers, and practicum students in the Lead Teacher's absence; maintaining a safe and sanitary environment; and performing related work in collaboration with other team teachers.
