3D Systems
Manufacturing Engineer, Plastics (Finance)
Performance Objectives
The following performance objectives will determine job success for this position:
1. Develop Manufacturing Processes: Serve the manufacturing production team to improve existing processes and augment capabilities with new processes. Specify, justify financially, develop, and implement new machines to increase capacity or reduce labor. Participate in process validation as necessary.
2. Resolve technical issues: Keep the production floor running by addressing urgent and long-term issues. Document the results of investigation and resolution through the CAPA, NMR, or Deviation processes.
3. Improve Supplier Performance : Work with existing suppliers to reduce lead time, increase efficiency, and improve quality. Perform technical evaluation of new candidate suppliers to ensure they have technical competence, customer service capability, and volume capacity to meet 3D Systems' needs.
4. Reduce Scrap : Use existing scrap tracking information to analyze data, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead cross-functional efforts with Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to reduce scrap in additive manufacturing.
5. Manage customer accounts: Take point on customer project meetings, coordinating information gathering, and managing internal efforts to implement changes as required. Lead complaint investigations, negotiate changes to support operational improvements, and coordinate with customer stakeholders to optimize quality, capacity, and cost.
6. Upgrade and maintain documentation for existing products : Convert existing work instructions to visual format. Create Technical Process Specifications for all routine outside supplier processes like HIP, chemical analysis, and tensile testing. Revise and create material specifications as needed by manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain. Implement all changes via the released change order system.
7. Re-design Business Processes : Refine processes for business processes that may not be tied to production, but which do affect the manufacturing organization as a whole. Work cross-functionally with stakeholders to determine the problem or opportunity, design the solution, and implement structural, procedural, and documentation changes to realize the benefit of the change.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Required
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
Because we are primarily focused on medical devices, the manufacturing engineer needs to have a substantial background in the medical device industry and extensive knowledge of ISO13485.
Demonstrated experience in additive and subtractive manufacturing, 3D modeling and design, and process improvement.
Having worked in a cross-functional environment will prove your ability to function effectively at 3D Systems.
The successful candidate will have a track record of technical accomplishments in engineering that show they are able to make good technical judgments and lead technical problem solving efforts.
With the need to review technical information from aerospace and defense customers, a successful candidate for this position will be a U.S. Person.
