Import & Export Specialist (Finance)



The Import and Export Compliance Specialist mitigates risk to the LMS business unit by driving compliance with all import and export regulations. The position provides strategic leadership across the company to ensure compliance with trade laws, rules, and regulations.

  • Serves as the key business unit interface (single point of contact) with government authorities as necessary. Is the face of the business unit's commitment to compliance.
  • Develops and maintains a world-class import / export compliance program.
  • Establishes and maintains trade policies, procedures and guidelines that drive compliance with all import/export regulations.
  • Assesses impact of regulatory changes and drive/implement changes as appropriate.
  • Ensures all business transactions are executed in compliance with the import / export program.
  • Performs routine customs compliance internal audits. Conducts periodic risk assessments; identifies areas of risk, initiates corresponding corrective actions, and tracks corrective actions through implementation.
  • Maintains metrics on key risk areas.
  • Oversees business unit file maintenance and recordkeeping.
  • Develops and performs training for all functional areas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior Import / Export compliance experience required.
  • Does not require a U.S. Customs Broker License but would be considered a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of EAR, ITAR, CBP, OFAC export control regulations.
  • Knowledge of HTS classification, Valuation, Audit, C-TPAT and ISA.
  • Experience dealing with government agencies (e.g., Department of State, Department of Defense, Bureau of Industry and Security and Department of Homeland Security).
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Strong organization, communication, presentation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport internally with key stakeholders as well as customers and government representatives.
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving and continuous improvement in complex organizations.
