Data Center Manager (Engineering)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direction of the assigned supervisor in managing the day-to-day operations of the Information System (IS) Serve as detail oriented, hands-on manager for IT Infrastructure. Oversees initiatives to ensure on delivery of approved projects. Utilizes ITIL-based approach to ensure that the Data Center team fulfills server requests, performs root cause analysis, and oversee continuous improvement initiatives. Designs and implements new SAN\Server solution for production, BC\DR and testing. Acts as project lead for operational projects, interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all infrastructures. Manages resources and develops staff, assists in defining team objectives. Provides subject matter expertise and insightful input for conduct performance reviews. Takes responsibility for development, implementation and documentation of operating policies, methods, processes, measures, and tools. Engages with Information Services team members and end users to understand evolving business needs and priorities to support and enhance business effectiveness. Coordinates with the rest of the IS team to meet the team objectives. Provides emergency 24 x 7 on-call support on a rotating basis.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to work with PCs, Servers, SANs, virtual technologies and various communications equipment. Communicates effectively with internal and external personnel orally and in writing. Requires the ability to operate an automobile.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Involves contact with division management, City Staff, end users, technical support and executive management. Involves contact with various firms, outside vendors, and solutions providers. Requires independent travel to offices throughout the city.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and eight (8) years of professional experience in planning and maintaining computer systems, services and data storage facilities with four (4) of eight (8) years in a supervisory capacity; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must
establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from date of
Employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
