Job Description
The main objective of the Food Server / Assistant role is to deliver meals, assist in patient menu selection, and cater to patient needs in a timely fashion. In addition, the Food Server / Assistant acts as the representative of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
Mealtime Preparation
• Prepares all cold/hot items and condiments for meal times according to quantities as written on the "Daily Production List."
• Focuses on presentation of patient trays-including meal accuracy and meal temperature-and ensures timely tray delivery.
• Is responsible for patient satisfaction during the shift for the assigned floors.
Patient Menu Selection
• Delivers and collects patient menus in a timely manner.
• Keeps hot food hot and cold food cold during meal delivery.
• Is responsible for meal accuracy and diet appropriateness while delivering patient trays.
• Ensures all patients' needs are catered to during the shift in between meal times.
• Adheres to facility's Emergency Preparedness Program, to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, as well as other mandatory programs in the facility as appropriate.
Organization
• Organizes job materials effectively throughout the day.
• Prioritizes day appropriately according to assigned floor.
Teamwork
• Assists other team members when necessary and asks for help when necessary.
• Assists management in any way to help the department operate efficiently.
Communication
• Effectively communicates product and equipment issues to management in a timely manner.
