We are seeking an experienced Flow Manager (Shift Manager)-Converting for our First Quality Tissue SE located in Anderson, SC who has great leadership skills and is able to make adjustments in an ever changing production environment. This position guides, directs and coaches production employees to safely manufacture high quality products at a sufficiently high volume to meet production standards with minimal waste. Oversees most day-to-day operations of production group including making personnel changes and addressing performance, behavior and policy compliance.
Primary responsibilities include:
Promote an action oriented safety culture embracing safety as a core value, instilling and exemplifying a safety mindset for all team members resulting in an incident free workplace through maintaining individual accountability, positive reinforcement of safe behavior and managing accountability of related systems (Firefly, LOTO, Incident Reporting, Housekeeping System).
Assists in development and implementation of safety awareness programs, communicates safety issues, corrects safety related problems, leads Emergency Response and assists in investigations into safety related issues.
Work in conjunction with Quality department to ensure finished product satisfies quality specifications through enforcing compliance to Quality systems such as changeover checklist compliance and routine Quality audits.
Assists the department managers in establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
Supervises shift production and executes operational plans. Understand trends and gaps in order to meet standards, improve efficiencies, and meet deadlines.
Responsible for providing direct leadership to employees and their subordinates to support plant operations. Secure and allocate resources appropriately to meet the production plan.
Actively participate in monthly communication meetings with team members on each crew (communicate KPI goals versus actuals, priorities for safety, quality and production, project status).
Collaborates with the maintenance team to make sure issues are addressed in a timely manner and that maintenance outages are performed per plan. Responsible for completion of downtime and event documentation.
Proactively and regularly develops and manages team members' performance and capabilities. Own and actively manage skill matrix ensuring employees are properly certified for their position and certification matrix is up to date for their shift.
Gather input for, compile and deliver goals, objectives and annual appraisals to all team members. Provide individual coaching to operating team members on a routine basis.
Maintain and hold team accountable to company policy, procedures and safety standard by working cooperatively with HR to manage, document and administer progressive discipline to Team Members where needed. Leads conflict resolution.
Develops and maintains a succession plan for all positions in assigned areas.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires 5-10 years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibilities. Tissue manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
SAP knowledge preferred.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information with discretion and professionalism.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with people of diverse backgrounds, as well as, empathize and reason with people in situations that are often challenging, sensitive and stressful.
Must possess excellent written communication, data analysis, and project and time management skills. Must possess organization, multi-tasking skills with the flexibility to manage multiple conflicting priorities and frequent change.
Ability to take initiative to identify and anticipate operations needs and make sound recommendations for implementation.
Ability to work a flexible schedule with little notice.
