Plant Operator (2nd Shift) (Finance)



Overview

Location: Fieldale, VA

Reports To: Stacy Barbour

Seeking a full-time/second-shift, safety oriented, experienced, self-motivated Plant Operator. This position is responsible for the safe and responsible oversight of one of our aggregate plants. Additional duties may include individual interaction with customers, salespersons, truck drivers and other varying team members. All duties should be completed in such a manner as to comply with all governmental regulations to include OSHA and MSHA, as well as company policy and procedure.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Ensuring plant production meets or exceeds the designated efficiency, that settings are maintained at optimum levels in order to maximize production and minimize down time
  • Assisting the plant Lead person with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant
  • Inspecting and performing maintenance on plant parts, including
  • Ability to access top of tower to change screens and screen deck
  • Ability to access incline conveyors for inspection and maintenance
  • Ability to perform other maintenance related duties on-site as required by supervisors
  • Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs
  • Visually observing and monitoring gauges and of all equipment while in operation to maintain proper flow of material on belts, crushers, and screens
  • Closing all bins and assure all conveyors are running properly
  • Sounding start up alarm to notify all personnel to stay clear of machinery
  • Stopping equipment immediately when any blockages occur and obtain assistance as needed
  • Entering production information into computer systems
  • Knowing all applicable regulations affecting plant production, safety environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensuring observance of such regulations; and ensure compliance with all regulations and permit conditions
  • Detecting safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly
  • Accurately completing daily paperwork which includes plant production reports, material produced
  • Displaying a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
  • Working within a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required

Essential Functions

  • Operate and navigate computers proficiently
  • Work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Must not be afraid of heights
  • Possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements
  • Maintain a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards
  • Work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Physically stand for long periods of time
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA
  • Provide verification of age - requirement is 18 years of age due to nature of working environment
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence - Read, comprehend, and write the English language
