Lead Mechanical Engineer (Architecture)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accelerator Technology Department at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is searching for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to contribute to a range of innovative and rapid experimental programs involving the design, fabrication, and testing of novel RF sources, devices, structures and integrated systems. The successful candidate will join an integrated team of engineers, scientists and other staff members dedicated to the advancement of RF and accelerator technologies; developing novel sources, structures and auxiliary components, and integrating subsystems to produce turnkey systems. There are two primary responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer: 1) to lead mechanical engineering, design, testing for component and integrated systems for ATR development efforts and projects, and to be the mechanical lead in the delivery of turnkey systems and 2) be part of the core team during program development activities that includes developing new concepts and proposals that are strategically aligned with the ATR mission.
This position administratively reports to the Head of the Accelerator Technology Research Department in the Technology Innovation Directorate.
