Actively participate and, where appropriate, provide effective leadership as a system engineering professional within the scope of MOTOROLA Private Radio Network Development programs.
Ability to work in WINDOWS and UNIX operating environments.
Experience in an advanced software/system development engineering environment (telecommunications application development is an asset).
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and schedule individual and group work assignments.
Disciplined development of system, subsystem and/or software requirements.
Analysis of network, system, subsystem and/or software requirements and development of suitable architecture/design options.
Preparation of Engineering Feasibility Assessments, Engineering Effort Estimates and/or Engineering Work Plans and Schedules.
Technical Risk Mitigation through research, modeling, simulation and/or prototyping.
Review and Analysis of Engineering Process Performance to drive ongoing improvements to organizational effectiveness.
Support of design, implementation, test and maintenance of product development assets in accordance with a defined development lifecycle processes.
Support of design and implementation of detailed system, subsystem and/or software test strategies, configurations and procedures.
Support of system, subsystem and/or software integration cycles including analysis of results and troubleshooting.
Support of system and/or subsystem certification cycles including collection and analysis of results.
Support of and active participation in organizational quality management processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participation in Field and/or Customer issue resolution and support activities as required.
Lead and/or contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of engineering methods, tools and environment.
Excellent English language communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) are essential.
Support of and/or participation in TIA or ETSI standards development processes.
Occasional Travel will be required.
Bachelors of Applied Science (or equivalent) in Electrical, Computer, Software, IP Network and/or Systems Engineering from an accredited college/university.
Working knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages/environments is an asset: C, C++, JAVA, UML, Tornado, Rational Tool Suite (UML, Autocode, RTRT), Telelogic Tools Suite (SDT, Tau G2, DOORS); as well as knowledge of additional scripting/programming/debugging languages and environments is an asset ( PERL, Microsoft Script Control, COM/DCOM, MFC View Document Architecture).
Knowledge/expertise in Network Architectures, Protocols and Programming (IP, UDP, Multicast IP, IGMP, etc.); as well as knowledge of Enterprise-level IT systems, IP data networks, IP network security and connectivity gateways.
