Staff Geologist/Env. Scientist - Annapolis, MD (Finance)

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate possesses the following:

Possess practical mechanical ability to adapt to the various challenges presented by field work.
This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities.
Position requires approximately 50-75 percent field work and/or travel.
Typical tasks will include field work planning and preparation, site audits, Phase I and II ESA's, collection and proper documentation of soil and groundwater samples to define the nature and extent of soil and groundwater contamination, drilling (GeoProbe), geologic classification and monitoring well installation oversight, and remedial system permitting, design, fabrication, and operation/maintenance. Responsibilities will also include data entry in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or Access databases, desktop research via internet, and documentation of field activities in letters/reports.
Qualifications:
1-3 years of previous experience. 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
Attention to detail and strong written/oral communication skill sets required. Should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. AutoCAD and GIS skills a plus.
Degree Requirements
BS in Geology, Geological Sciences, Environmental Science or related field (geophysics, geochemistry, hydrogeology, earth science, environmental science or soil science)
This position requires selected candidate to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check and a negative drug test. The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform field work, including light lifting and maneuvering of equipment, and perform the field work in a wide range of site and weather conditions. You must also be able to travel to project sites, as needed.
