Intern, Mechanical Core Engineer (Finance)
The Mechanical Engineering Core has opportunities for involvement with the mechanical bus front end design, detailed analysis development, mechanical system test requirements, as well as subassembly qualification and production of high power communications satellites. This is a requisition for summer of 2017 intern positions with involvement in the design, integration, and test of space systems. The Mechanical team will need interns in the following areas:
-Spacecraft sub-assembly design (3-D modeling skills a plus for this role)
-Spacecraft sub-assembly structural analysis (completed courses in statics, dynamics, and finite elements a plus for this role)
-Spacecraft sub-assembly production and test (lean manufacturing skills and hands on fabrication a plus for this role)
Requirements:
2 years or more of college education towards a 4 year BS degree in engineering, math or physics
Strong verbal and written communication, organization and leadership skills are essential
Group project experience, ability to collaborate with team members of different technical disciplines
Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint or similar suite
Interest in aerospace or mechanical design is preferred
Experience or interest in process improvement techniques is a plus
Process improvement experience a plus
