Nemours is seeking a Software Systems Engineer (FULL-TIME) to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.As the birthplace of the Nemours healthcare system, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. honors our legacy of delivering exceptional care to the children of the Delaware Valley and beyond. Ranked among the nation's best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and honored with the ANCC's Magnet Designation for excellence in nursing practice, we offer intensive and acute inpatient and outpatient services covering more than 30 pediatric specialties. We recently completed a multi-phase hospital expansion that includes new inpatient rooms, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department. Additionally, Nemours duPont Pediatrics allows us to reach more children across the region through community-based physician services and collaborative partnerships with health and hospital systems.
Job Duties
As part of the Nemours Center for Health Delivery Innovation, the Consumer Digital Health team is developing the digital “front door” for Nemours. Pushing care into the hands of families with our vision of Nemours, anytime, anywhere, we are providing a frictionless, personalized digital experience for patient families that meets their needs on their terms. The team utilizes design thinking and agile methodologies as it integrates existing Nemours digital tools: MyNemours, CareConnect, KidsHealth, Nemours.org, and BrightStart! into a new interface for families.
This position will be responsible for the engineering, development, maintenance, and support of secure web-based and mobile clinical applications. This engineer will be passionate about the craft of agile software development, and will excel at the work of coding. Someone with a background in agile development and Scrum as well as development skills across multiple languages will be successful. This role will work at every phase of the software development life-cycle and will be personally responsible for entire application at each stage of development: requirements gathering/specification, designing the software architecture and application server environment, writing code and unit/integration testing according to design, documentation, deployment, maintenance, and some user support. Provide support (24x7 onsite-on-call) for production systems.
In order to achieve a high degree of productivity this position will expertly use Agile development in a DevOps environment. The person in this position is passionate about creating software that is easy to manage and maintain, operates in an understandable and transparent way and can be tested in an automated fashion as a way to prove the software works as it was meant to.
This position will make recommendations about advanced consumer technologies, acquisitions, and hiring within the Consumer Digital health group. The individual in this position has a high degree of responsibility and autonomy and therefore must keep up with current technologies, and be able to operate at both the high architectural level, but also at the low detailed coding level. The individual in this position will play a significant role in the success of Nemours in connecting patient families to care, anytime, anywhere.
