Consumer Compliance Senior Associate - Supervision Group, Federal Reserve Bank of New York (Finance)
Position Summary: The Consumer Compliance Department conducts specialized supervisory activities at state member banks, bank holding companies, and certain U.S. Branches and agencies of foreign banks to assess consumer compliance risk management practices and determine compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations. The Department also investigates consumer complaints filed against state member banks. This leadership position currently manages a team of three compliance managers and is accountable for 20+ staff members located in the 2nd District.
Responsibilities:
Conduct supervisory activities to determine banking organizations` compliance with regulations and statutes related to consumers including fair lending and CRA and other supervisory activities such as monitoring and completing risk assessments.
Perform and supervise risk focused examinations, present findings as well as prepare reports and workpapers that support exam findings. This includes the communication of findings to the FRBNY and senior bank management.
Assess compliance risk management programs and practices, internal audits and internal controls.
Participate in or lead department and system-wide task force committees and make recommendations related to supervisory/regulatory practices, policies, and proposals.
Identify, assess and address complex supervisory issues and compliance risks.
Conduct formal training on consumer compliance regulatory topics and act as a mentor for less experienced staff members.
The Leadership Team does the following:
Ensures that all supervisory-related activities are completed timely and consistently while promoting efficiency in all work processes and while maintaining high quality standards.
Lead teams of Senior Associate and Associate examiners administratively and in core supervision/project activities, including setting priorities and supervisory schedules; ensuring accountability; reviewing work products including final supervisory reports/letters; facilitating talent management and succession planning; assessing development needs; and delivering coaching to ensure continuous development of skills, competencies and the talent pipeline.
Participate in the prioritization of resources considering local needs as well as System supervision and policy priorities.
Engage with senior officials of regulated institutions, especially when dealing with significant risks, enforcement actions and program deficiencies, to include acting as an escalation point for consumer compliance issues and concerns, resolving issues as necessary.
Participate in quality control reviews of the department`s completed work.
