Job Objective: Drives alignment between the department's initiative and daily operating activities of the company. Develops, manages, and directs the Lower 48 safety and environmental departments including all related personnel, policies, and programs. Aligns communication between department's representative and executive leadership. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, training, and consultation through the direct and indirect management of the EH&S Departments providing service to the L48 (TX, LA, WY, CO, NM, AL, PA, OH).
Execute continuous improvement and ensures EH&S programs and initiatives align with Hilcorp values and operational priorities, minimize cost, and add substantial value to the operating areas
Communicate EH&S performance and emerging trends inside and outside of the operating area to the executive leadership team and lead development and execution of mitigation strategies to reduce and prevent recurrence of incidents
Ensure excellence through fiscal responsibility in preparation and maintenance of departmental budget
Develop strategy and track departmental metrics and champion change in areas of negative or nonproductive trends
Align the department's objectives with the Occupational Health & Risk Departments in administering related policies including Workers Compensation & Drug Free Workplace initiatives.
Ensure compliance and anticipate changes or developments with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and policies.
Ensure appropriate response planning and play a pivotal role during emergency response situations and the spill management program.
Serve as a resource for all levels of leadership in risk-based decision making at the operating-area and executive level
Review and deliver improvements to current EH&S policies and procedures including but not limited to training programs, safety and environmental incidents, and emergency response.
Provide due diligence support during acquisition and divestiture activities.
Confirm effective execution of EH&S goals and initiatives to Executive Staff
Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.

Maintain alignment between the EH&S department and operational leadership teams with a strong focus on culture including identifying and delivering on strategy that serves the unique needs and risk tolerance for each area
Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
Other Job Responsibilities:
Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
Ability to travel overnight 30 - 35%
Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed.

Qualifications:
Ten (10) - fifteen (15) years minimum experience in safety, health, and environmental specializations working directly for E&P Company with four (4+) years minimum experience managing/directing others.
Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
Prior leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build teams, manage performance, drive change, and excellence in execution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
Advanced knowledge in applicable state (TX, LA, WY, CO, NM, AL, PA, OH) and federal legislation as related to environmental, health, and safety.
Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
Preferred: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Education Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college
Preferred: Bachelor or advanced degree in engineering, occupational safety & health, environmental science, or similar.
