Lindner Center of HOPE is seeking an experienced Chef to join our Food and Nutrition team to provide high quality food to our patients, and employees. The Chef is responsible for the preparation and presentation of menu items for patients, guests, and catered events.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and prepares food for banquets, catering events, and other special functions at the Lindner Center of HOPE.
The Chef is responsible for maintaining high patient satisfaction scores on the Residential Units.
Follows Board of Health, Joint Commission and all other regulatory agencies' regulations and procedures regarding food preparation, holding, storage and sanitation.
Demonstrates creativity by developing ideas for theme meals and new menu items.
Monitors food quality; tasting all products and insures all food products are prepared and plated to recipe and LCOH specifications.
Ensures prompt and efficient preparation of foods to meet the menu requirements and any special menu needs/requests.Completes skilled cooking and food preparation for patients, families, staff and visitors of LCOH.
Responsible for time management, food preparation lists, daily freezer pulls and communicating production needs to cooks on a daily basis.
Ensures all menu items and ingredients are available as needed and prepared, portion and plated per recipe and in accordance with all diet orders, restrictions and food allergies.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma required. Culinary school graduate preferred.
At least 5 years' experience cooking in fine dining restaurant.
Experience in health care environment preferred, and knowledge of special diets preferred.
Ability to prepare fresh dishes from scratch.
Strong knowledge of culinary skills, recipe and menu development. Ability to understand and follow written recipes.
Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to engage with patients during special food events.
Experience in quantity food preparation methods, food principles, operation of food service equipment and food safety and sanitation a must. Experience purchasing and receiving food and supplies.
Excellent time management skills.
Knowledge of Board of Health requirements.
Ability to work with all levels of co-workers, professional staff, vendor contacts and customers.
