Desktop Engineer (Project Management)



Role: A Desktop Engineer specializes in building and maintaining information technology (IT) in a professional capacity. In this role, the Desktop Engineer will be responsible for application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control in an Enterprise environment. They will also do installations, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading of all desktop hardware and equipment (including but not limited to PC, mobile devices, terminals, printers and scanners) to ensure optimal workstation performance, security and compliance.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

30% Provide advice, technical consultation and guidance to internal and external customers by analyzing and resolving problems and evaluating alternative means of satisfying user requirements.

Identify reoccurring issues and work with IT & Business partners to re mediate using the problem management process.

Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with operating systems and applications.

Assist with patching and other security requirements to help ensure appropriate levels of security and compliance.

Secure and document baseline image creation for multiple hardware configurations.

Communicate technical problems and solutions to users and IT team members as required.

Assist with patching and other security requirements to help ensure appropriate levels of security and compliance.

25% Researching and implementing new technology to service the customer and the team. Staying up to date on the latest solutions and communicating with the vendors to be sure we are providing the best option.

Manage cross work unit groups for the purpose of deploying IT solutions or promoting structured engineering and process improvement initiatives across the enterprise, and/or applies best practices for IT solutions.

Design deployment solutions for enterprise wide rollouts and upgrades.

25% First and second level help desk as assigned. Work with users and IT support staff to resolve issues.

10% Document, test, and modify network and system configurations to meet Empower needs and requirements.

10% Knowledge transfer to other team members

Provide day to day network administration including data integrity, data loss prevention, and network security

Generate and develop ideas, which improve the quality of service for members or increase job productivity and satisfaction.
 

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience. 

Education: Equivalent to a college degree in computer sciences, engineering, or related subject.

Certification in Microsoft Operating Systems or Engineering (ex. A+, N+, and/or MCSE/CCNA) required.
 

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
