Pilot Plant Technician (Finance)



Job Description:

We're looking for a Pilot Plant Technician who will be responsible for operating equipment, assisting trial owners, and working effectively on a team.

What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED with manufacturing experience (food manufacturing preferred)
  • Familiar with food processing GMP standards
  • Attention to detail and able to participate in Health & Safety Environment/Quality Assurance annual auditing
  • Ability to stand for 8+ hours during a 10 hour shift
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to operate forklift
  • Familiarity with computers and ipad/tablet, as well an ability to navigate general software programs like email, online time keeping and electronic calendars

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, etc.) or Technology (e.g., Engineering Technology)

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Set up pilot plant equipment and prepare resources based on test design and parameters
  • Operation of a wide range of equipment including existing systems as well as new technology
  • Document all critical testing criteria and critical observations throughout experimentation
  • Document and catalogue required quality control documents including thermal process evaluations
  • Document pilot plant trials. Collect data, maintain records, and make basic routine calculations on the acquired data. Provide accurate and timely summaries of experiments performed including data compilation, machine settings, process parameters, recipe contents, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining associate safety and food safety at all times in the Pilot Plant
  • Provides Quality control for finished product produced in the Pilot Plant and ensures that all products leaving the site are safe.
  • Use creativity and innovation to solve mechanical or organizational problems occurring during experiments, test trials and production runs. React to getting assignments completed in a timely, effective manner.
  • Plans, collects materials for, and executes trial production and development tests.
  • Develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures for equipment and procedures in the Pilot Plant.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment/machinery and plant facility according to good manufacturing and sanitation practices.
  • Supports preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
