Business Manager (Education)
Finance: The Business Manager performs the routine, day-to-day, tasks associated with financial management including daily reporting of sales, recording of data into financial system and securing assets related to sales activities.
Human Resources: The Business Manager serves as the primary Human Resources contact at the property and forwards questions/concerns to either the General Manager or ESM Human Resources for action. Additionally, the Business Manager conducts interviews and participates in the selection of candidates.
Business: The Business Manager assists the management team in the execution of the mission of the organization and works closely with the specific managers as necessary (e.g. leagues, sport director(s), camps, etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Finance
Keeps records of financial transactions for establishment. Responsible for various functions in accounting, reconciling cash and credit card receipts from transactions. Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.Accounts Receivable Leagues/rentals, etc.Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company proceduresVerifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in accounting software from documents such as sales slips, receipts, and computer printoutsPrepares daily cash and sales reports and reviews for accuracyAssist Finance Director and/or Finance Manager with resolution and monthly reconciliations as needed (e.g. bank statements, credit card statements, etc.).Deposits cash/checks daily to banking institution and maintains records for daily deposits.Computes and records refundsAssists clients or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and servicesEnforces the organizations financial policies and proceduresAudit all petty cash including safe, concession, and front desk drawers.Ensures daily verifications are completed.
Human Resources
Administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity by performing the following duties:
Interviews and assists with the selection of candidates to fill vacant positionsIn the absence of the General Manager, conducts new employee orientationMonitors timesheets and makes corrections in the absence of the department manager.Ensures accuracy of time worked in cost centers and adjusts allocation of time worked accordinglyMaintains training files and monitors required trainings for all applicable employeesInvestigates accidents and forwards reports to ESM Human ResourcesAssists General Manager in the performance of Employee Recognition programs such as Employee of the Month/YearAssists General Manager in the planning and execution of Annual Holiday party, as well as other events, to boost employee morale
Business
Communication with facility guests through written email and/or telephone conversation regarding leagues and/or campsAssists with creation and readjustment schedulesRegisters guests for league and/or camp productsPromotes current and future league and/or offeringsFurnishes Field House employees with clerical suppliesOpens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail, and collects, seals, and stamps outgoing mailDelivers oral or written messagesCollects and distributes paperwork, such as records or timecards, from one department to anotherOperates office equipment such as letter opener, record shredding machine, photocopying machine, and computerDelivers items to other business establishmentsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), as well as Accounting and Payroll Software (i.e. QuickBooks).Upon hire and training, the individual must be able to successfully utilize the Mylan Park Aquatics & Track Centers House Guest registration software and Timeclock software.
