Senior Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking (Finance)
SUMMARY
The Senior Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking markets Corporate Banking products and services to prospects and clients, services existing client relationships, and cultivates relationships with new clients to enhance profitability of credit and non-credit business for the bank. The successful candidate acts as lead Relationship Manager for the client contacts, negotiating credit relationships and representing the bank's efforts to expand non-credit relationships. The Senior Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking actively participates in the credit approval process for the client credit portfolio.
MAJOR DUTIES
1. Manages a Corporate Banking portfolio of credit and non-credit relationships for clients in a variety of industries.
2. Develops the marketing strategy for clients and prospects to enhance existing relationship profitability and establish new relationships.
3. Counsels client on emerging issues, bank products / services, legal / regulatory changes, and general environment, translating the impact on clients' activities and banking services.
4. Partners with Credit Portfolio Managers and Credit Risk partners to ensure sound underwriting and risk management practices through the credit approval process.
5. Identifies product and service cross-sell opportunities including Asset Servicing, Asset Management and Capital Markets, and participates in development of new solutions to client needs, coordinates presentations, and brings in experts when appropriate.
6. Acts as key consultant to clients' senior management, evaluation and implementation of financing strategies or structures and treasury management practices through creative ideas and problem solving.
7. Keeps abreast of current developments and market trends to better identify and service clients.
8. Responsible for structuring and negotiating complex loan agreements according to guidelines established by senior bank and business unit management.
9. Analyzes and negotiates the terms of loans, such as special pricing conditions, interest rates, etc. according to guidelines set by the Credit Policy Committee. Prepares documentation necessary for the financing agreement.
10. Identifies prospects and evaluates clients to ensure they are compatible with the bank's marketing strategy. Initiates contact and documents for the purpose of retaining, developing, and fostering profitable business relationships.
11. Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the credit worthiness of clients and prospects which includes a written document and presentation to loan committee and credit policy to ensure a high quality loan portfolio, (i.e., KNOW YOUR CLIENT).
12. Responds to inquiries from clients and ensures resolution of service or operations problems. Documents call reports to maintain record of problem and resolution.
13. Travels regularly to client locations.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
• In-depth knowledge of finance and relevant business segment specific issues usually acquired through prior lending and financial analysis experience are required to manage client relationships.
• Skills in negotiation, leadership, and sales are necessary to service the client relationship.
• Knowledge of applicable industry laws and regulations usually acquired through prior lending experience or through completion of formal credit training program is required to evaluate credit risk.
• Analytical skills are required to review credit and make recommendations.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum of 7 years in financial analysis and/or client servicing experience, or commercial lending or leasing experience.
