Assistant Professor of Theatre Practice in Acting/Industry Liaison (Finance)
The USC School of Dramatic Arts seeks a full-time assistant professor (non-tenure track) for its undergraduate and graduate programs starting August, 2019. This position will be the Industry Liaison Officer of the SDA Career Center, and act to enhance and expand the professional profile of the school. In addition, the position will entail teaching classes that develop the student's ability to connect and combine managerial, economic and business-related skills with the craft and career of acting.
The successful candidate should have ample experience in the film and television industry in the following categories: casting director, manager, agent, acting coach, as well as mentoring students of acting specifically in the 3 areas of camera and performance. The candidate should be a charismatic individual with sensitivity to the academic environment, someone who has demonstrated leadership in his/her career, and someone who shares the school's credo and mission. Additionally, he or she must understand the value of the School of Dramatic Arts unique location in Los Angeles, and the dynamic relations that exists between theatre and the film entertainment industry.
While academic credentials are desirable, all equivalent experience in the professional arena is also important. Applications should include a letter describing the candidate's qualifications for the position, curriculum vitae, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master's Degree or equivalent in professional equivalent (casting, producing, professional representation).
Experience: 3-5 years teaching or coaching in the professional arena, as well familiarity with professional submissions through casting such as the Breakdown Services.
Skills: Computer proficiency (MS Office, Outlook, and Internet)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: 5 plus years teaching, or extensive professional credits.
