NP/PA - Critical Care Service - Trauma Life Center (TLC) - University Hospital (3104) (Healthcare)
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient and ambulatory care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to: - Provide comprehensive care to patients with acute and complex illnesses in the critical care setting. - Manage or independently perform routine ICU diagnostic procedures consistent with scope of practice. - Participate in ICU rounding and collaborate with attending or consulting team to adjust plans of care. - Work in collaboration with the ICU Family Support Nurses to provide comprehensive family support and the coordination of family meetings. - Participate in discharge/transfer planning, including preparation of orders and summaries of patients' hospitalization and care. - Lead orientation for all rotating interns and resident on a monthly basis. - Identify opportunities for Quality Improvement projects. - Communicate with the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO); attend quarterly meetings, support communication between provider teams and OPO during all active donor cases. Education: Minimum If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program. If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program. Work Experience: Preferred - Prior experience in the ICU setting. Licenses and Certifications: Minimum - If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND active board certification as a NP in Adult/Gerontology Acute Care. If Physician Assistant: Active PA license in State of Wisconsin AND active PA board certification. All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire AND CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP). Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Professional demeanor. - Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. - Ability to prioritize tasks. Physical Requirements: Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. W ork Schedule: 100% FTE Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
